Summer Glow: Beauty Round Up

With summer in full swing and a vacation around the corner, I decided to take a little deeper look at my hot weather makeup essentials. In the summer, especially when I am traveling I usually go for a more dewy and fresh look. Here is a peek at what I consider necessities to get me through the hot months.

Bronzer: Nars Laguna Bronzer, Tinted Moisturizer: Nars Pure Radiant in Finland, Illuminator: Nars Cococabana, Blush: Benefit Posie Tint, Primer: Benefit POREfessional

For my skin I usually go for a primer and a tinted moisturizer for sheer coverage. A little contouring with bronzer and highlighting with a gel blush and illuminator are key to getting that dewy summer glow.

Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Cream Shadow: Laura Mercier Platinum, Eye Shadow: Nars Eye Duo in Kuala Lumpur , Eyeliner: Benefit Bad Gal Waterproof liner in espresso, Under Eye Color: YSL Touche Eclat in 2.5, Eye brightner: Benefit Ohh La Lift, Mascara: YSL Waterproof Volume Effets Faux Cils

For me priming is key or my shadows rub/sweat right off when its hot. Colors like golds and accents of purple are great for summer eyes. I cover any dark circles and my eye contour with Benefit's Ooh La Lift and the YSL Touche Eclat in 2.5. I always go for a brown liner for day looks in the summer (less harsh) and a bold lash with black mascara. Using a waterproof mascara and eye liner will keep you safe from raccoon eyes.

Lip Stain: YSL Vernis a Levres in 7, Tinted chapstick: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose, Chapstick: L'Occiatne Shea Butter Lip Balm
For lips I usually use L'Occitane shea butter chapstick constantly. Want to add a little color? A tinted version like Fresh's SUGAR Rose gives a perfect just bitten blush. For longer lasting wear, I go for the YSL Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain -- in a variety of bright colors this lip gloss/stain is amazing. It is completely moisturizing with long lasting color, no matter how many iced beverages you down.

What are your summer beauty must haves?

Summer Break

1. Zimmerman One-Piece, 2. Moschino Shorts, 3.Rebecca Minkoff Bag, 4. Alexis Bittar Cuff, 5. 3.1 Phillip Lim Sandals, 6. Sandro Blouse, 7. Comptoirs des Cotonniers Midi Skirt, 8. J. Crew Tippi Sweater, 9. Topshop Skirt, 10 Acne Boots, 11. Equipment Romper
I don't know about you, but there are some seasons I like to pretend I don't care for. It's this little game I play to make me feel as if I don't "need" to purchase any new clothing. For the past few years, summer has been my "least liked" season. Now don't get me wrong, I love warm weather, cute dresses and shorts, but in San Francisco as it is rarely warm enough to wear any of these items, I have concluded that I'm not particularly fond of summer. And every year, like clockwork, one warm week roles around and dashes all my well intentioned plans for disliking the season and I break. A few dresses, sandals, shorts and bags later I always ask myself -- when will it change? Here is what I imagine splurging on for my least favorite season ;).

Golden Glow

Shirt: J.Crew, Shorts: Free People similar here, Shoes: Pour La Victoire, Bag: Cynthia Vincent, Watch: La Mer Collection, Rings: David Yurman, Dara Ettinger, Necklace: Gorjana.
This weekend Marc and I finally got a chance to shoot some photos for the blog.  With weddings, long weekend getaways and lots and lots of work, we just hadn't had the time to get in a good shoot. Lucky for us Sunday afternoon we spent in Marin. The gorgeous weather finally gave me the chance to wear some of my much neglected summer wardrobe. And after lazying about for most of the day we went for an evening stroll and were caught in the most beautiful golden glow. Hope you're all having an amazing week so far.
