Olive Oil Ice Cream with Lavender Shortbread

Last June I became the proud owner of an ice cream machine. After being hastily purchased on Gilt, I swore I would make ice cream everyday of the summer, in reality my ice cream machine had remained in the box until this past weekend. After months of neglecting my lovely new kitchen accessory, I finally put it to use.

On Saturday afternoon, Marc, our friend David and I all headed to the ferry building to pick up the ingredients for Olive Oil ice cream. After tasting olive oils, and picking up a few other ingredients like lavender shortbread cookies from miette, we headed home to make our delicious frozen treat. This has to be one of the most decadent and delicious deserts I have ever had. The recipe was adapted from here and it was seriously good eats. Have you tried olive oil ice cream? What do you think?

Out of the Fashion Box: Floral Wonders

With all the sun the past few weeks I couldn't help but pull out my spring wardrobe. I purchased these pants in late December at Barneys and was hesitant to say the least. While I am a HUGE fan of printed pants, I usually stick to lightweight flowy version or more subdued prints if they are on skinny jeans.

The floral jeans were a bit overwhelming for me, but I couldn't get over the lovely vintage print and decided I would find some way to wear them. Here was my first pass at wearing floral print denim and I think these may have become a new favorite.

Friendship Bracelet DIY

This past Friday, my friends and I decided we would all get together watch Wet Hot American Summer and make friendship bracelets. Since I hadn't made a friendship bracelet since I was in camp, I thought I better brush up on my skills before the big night. During the week I stopped by Britex to pick up a selection of embroidery thread, and then dropped by the bead shop to get some sparkly crystals so I could bedazzle my bracelets. After checking out my favorite DIY blogs, I found exactly what I was looking for, HonestlyWTF gave the BEST instructions and brought all my camp bracelet making skills back in a flash.

Out of the Fashion Box: DIY Marble Nails

While I am no newbie to nail art, there are a few looks I have always been timid to try. A few months back my good friend Francesca posted a DIY for marble nails over on her blog Polishment. I was obsessed, Francesca's "Black Pearl" nails were shimmery and beautiful and subtly bold -- I had to HAVE them.

After many weeks of contemplation I settled on a beautiful blue palette and got to work. Let me tell you this was not the easiest of nail art DIY's and I ended up enlisting a helper, Marc, who doubled as the photographer. Check out the full list of tools and directions here, on Polishment.

Quick Snaps

I've never been a big photo taker, I love pictures I jut never seem to feel the need to take out my phone and snap. Marc being an avid lover of instagram told me I would like it, so after years of ignoring him I decided it was time to bite the bullet and start documenting my every whim.  After a few weeks of snapping away I was asked to try the app snapette, which is basically instagram for fashion lovers combined with shopping recommendations from other users who snapped in your neighborhood. Now, a few weeks in, I have quite enjoyed my new found love of documenting my everyday finds and adventures.

To Resolutions

Now that the first week of January has passed I have started full throttle on my New Year resolutions. Currently on the list I have: workout more, bake regularly (this is actually my favorite activity), no more shopping (at least for January) and take time to enjoy my life and not stress all of the little stuff. So far so good, it may be just week one but 2012 is off to a good start.
