Soft Glow

Shirt: Aqua, Shorts: Rachel Rachel Roy, Shoes: Sam Edelman, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Watch: Mico, Bracelets: David Yurman, Sunnies: Prada
As we neared the end of our trip, Marc and I spent a few days in Pietrasanta, an incredibly quaint and sleepy beach town in northern Tuscany. While our days mostly consisted of visiting Forte dei Marmi and Cinque Terre, we spent the evenings having late dinners al fresco, walking up and down the narrow streets and popping in and out of the shops and art galleries that stayed open till midnight.  The most magical part of the entire town was the way it glowed at night. Streets were lined with large glass jars filled with sand and tapered candles. Promptly lit at nine p.m.  the candles gave off the most beautiful glow giving the entire town a warm inviting feeling. I could have stayed there forever.

Golden Light

The AMAZING vineyard we stayed on while in Tuscany
While in Italy most of our time was spent in Tuscany on a gorgeous villa surrounded by vineyards and olive tree groves. Marc and I definitely spent some time wandering among the grapes and occasionally pulling a few off to enjoy during our early evening strolls.

Bathing Beauty

Bathing Suit: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Shirt: Madewell, Shoes: Topshop, Sunnies:Prada
Month's ago I became OBSESSED with finding the perfect high waisted bikini. I searched everywhere for this retro style bather and could not find one that really did the trick. Then, one fine afternoon, while flipping through a Bloomingdales' catalog, I saw it. A Lovely navy and white striped retro inspired bikini and I knew it had to be mine. After a few weeks I entered the SF bloomies and purchased the LAST pair of high waisted bottoms in my size. I then had to wait 2 weeks until the top arrived in the mail... while I agonized over the suit, I have to say it was well worth the search. The cream and navy stripes mixed with the small sailor inspired detailing makes it absolutely perfect. And while I definitely do not get to wear it very often in SF, it did get a fair amount of use while in Tuscany at the villa's pool.

Whirlwind

Dress: DVF, Shoes: Boutique 9, Earrings: gift from my mom, Bracelets and Rings: David Yurman, Hair: inspired by the Refinery29 hair story here
Sometimes vacation feels like a whirlwind, you wait for it for SO long and plan everything out. Then it passes by, lifting you up in all its craziness and drops you back at home more quickly than you anticipated. This dress has that same feel, dizzying with all of the swirls, but perfectly at harmony in its chaotic print.

Roman Holiday

Romper and Vest: Topshop, Hat: Madewell, Shoes: Sam Edelman, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Watch: Mimco, Jewelry: David Yurman, Sunnies: Prada
On our first day in Rome, Marc and I played tourist. Having been to Rome before we had the luxury of getting to leisurely walk around the city and visit the sites.

I was more than thrilled to get to wear this floral romper I bought at Topshop almost 2 years ago. Since it is always freezing in SF this was actually only the 3rd time I had ever worn the romper, the first time was in Vegas and the second time was here.

Once 3 p.m. rolled around and there was absolutely NO shade to be found in all of Rome, we decided it was time to nap and headed back to the hotel. It was a perfect day in Rome, before a very long and lovely night.

Less is More

Shirt and Shorts: Madewell, Striped Bra: Free People, Necklace: Dannijo, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Sunnies: Prada, Watch: Mimco, Shoes: Topshop
Marc and I are finally back from our wonderful vacation in Italy. After a few days in Rome we spent the rest of our two weeks relaxing in Tuscany. While it was absolutely gorgeous, it was also sweltering and my outfits mostly consisted of shorts and tanks. The less clothing the better.

Little Red Riding Hood

Blazer: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Shirt: J. Crew, Pants: Vince, Shoes: Sperry, Jewlery: House of Harlow, Madewell, Dannijo, David Yurman, Vintage, Watch: Mimco, Bag: Balenciaga
Sometimes all you need is a little red, white and blue. While I was getting ready the other morning I was really in a funk, one of those days when you hate everything in your closet. As I got to the back of one of the racks I found this old red blazer, and had a sudden spark of inspiration. I took my normal go-to weekend outfit, cargo skinnies and a striped top, added the red blazer, some bangles and my sperry's.

One of the Boys

Hat: Madewell, Shorts: Bel Air Paris, Marc's Sweater: Gant, Shoes: Steven
I am rarely one of the boys, it's not really in my nature to play video games, be messy or generally  not make plans. While I may not act like a boy, I do occasionally like to steal from boy's closets. This sweater is quickly becoming one of my favorite's. Stolen from Marc's wardrobe, this sweater is so cozy and comfy that it is a great thing to throw on for a lazy Sunday. The Cosby-esque vibe makes it even better.

Simple Things

Bits of jewelry organized on a pretty tray.
Sometimes it is the simple things that make you smile. Sparkly jewels, a good laugh, a fresh manicure and a new bag can make your week. Here is what's currently making me smile!
Tina Fey's hilarious book.
New Shellac manicure. Let's hope it really lasts the 2 weeks :)
Small Rebecca Minkoff bag perfect for traveling!

Get Packing

Well the time has finally come and we are on our way to Italy! As anyone who has seen me in the past 3 months knows, all I have done is talk about my impending trip. For this trip, I was determined to be a good packer and while I did not make a list (which would have been a good idea), I did decide to organize all of my clothes in those little pouches from the Container Store. After rave reviews from family, friends and then the post on Mission Closet I decided I needed to get some packing supplies, boy did it make a difference. It saved me TONS of space and allowed me to keep all of my items super organized! I have a feeling that extra space will be filled up on my way home with new goodies. Oh well, so much for packing lite.
